Interlibrary Loan--Lending Services to Outside Libraries

Bobst Library lends materials to libraries in all countries for a loan period of 4 weeks. All interlibrary loan transactions, including requests for photocopies, are conducted library to library.

How do I place a request?

To request an item from Bobst Library Interlibrary loan, first create an account in Bobst's online interlibrary loan system by selecting First Time User on the Bobst ILL log-in page. You will use this account to place and track requests. Requests must be submitted through OCLC or the ILL Request System. We cannot accept telephone requests.

I've lost my ILL username or password. What should I do?

If you know your username, you may reset your password from the ILL Request System log in page at anytime. If you need help with your username, contact Bobst ILL during normal business hours. Please do not create another account, as it will delay the processing of your requests.

How much does it cost?

For North American libraries and non-profit institutions, Bobst charges $15 per transaction if billed through OCLC's IFM system, $25 per transaction for items requiring an invoice. Transactions for international libraries and non-profits are $30 per transaction, payable in U.S. funds. Charges may be waived for requests from international libraries without the ability to pay. Loans to for-profit institutions, both domestic and international, are $50 for standard service or $100 for rush (subject to approval). No copy charge to participants in the "Metro Free" photocopy program.

How long does it take?

We generally send material to the requesting library within twenty-four (24) hours of receiving the request. Items not housed within the Bobst general collection may take longer.

How will it be delivered?

We ship domestically via UPS, and request that our materials are returned by some similar shipping service that offers package tracking. For international shipments we use Priority Mail from the US Postal Service.

How should I return material to Bobst?

Please return material by any method which allows for package tracking. Please return to:

Bobst Library Interlibrary loan staff has the authority to determine, on a case by case basis, items which are not suitable for interlibrary loan.
