    Issued every several years (latest is the 10th ed. published in 2001), this handbook surveys political and economic conditions of Latin America and the Caribbean by country. Includes statistics, and information on the government, constitution, heads of state, news agencies, radio and television, banks, and publishers. A brief bibliography cites a selective reading list of recent English-language books for each country.

    Selective, annotated subject bibliography of journal articles and monographs in the humanities and social sciences. Originally published in one annual volume. Since 1965, one volume devoted to the social sciences and one to the humanities is published in alternate years. A summary article highlighting important publications precedes the bibliography for each field. Each volume has a subject and author index. There is a three year time lag in its publication. (See HAPI or a scholarly journal in the field of interest for more up-to-date publications.)

    A microfiche set, ABEPI is a compilation of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American biographical information from biographical sources published between 1600 and 1950. The arrangement is alphabetical by name of individual. The Indice biográfico de España, Portugal e Iberoamérica (Bobst REF1 CT 1345.I53) is an index to the first series of the ABEPI. The index for the 2nd series is forthcoming. It provides the user with direct access to the bibliographical source either in the original book form or in the microfiche version, giving the fiche number and the number of the frame on which the entry is to be found.
